Focusing on the challenges of regional integration in the Horn of Africa, this study critically examines the role of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) since its establishment in 1986. Despite its aim to foster socio-economic development among member states, mistrust and competition among nations hinder progress. The study highlights the impact of terrorism, suggesting that harsh responses exacerbate the issue. Participants advocate for a counter-ideological approach to educate communities about fundamentalism's dangers, aiming for a more cohesive integration strategy.
