Hanka Václav Livres

This ancient lyrico-epic poem tells the story of a patriot who fought for his country against vast armies. The poem is an important piece of Czech literature and has been beautifully translated for English readers.

Uvádíme nové komentované vydání domnělých staročeských veršovaných památek z doby národního obrození. Rukopisy, které měly doložit slavnou a demokratickou národní minulosti, sahající až do raného středověku, a idealistickou vizi vyspělé staročeské kultury, byly po svém „objevení“ (1817 a 1818) nadšeně přijaty a inspirovaly i několik dalších generací českých umělců. Až na konci 19. století prokázali vědci, odmítající falešné vlastenecké iluze, jejich nepravost – skutečnými původci byli zřejmě Václav Hanka a Josef Linda. Obě díla, na nichž dnes už neceníme „starobylost“, ale krásu básnického jazyka, uvádíme v klasickém převodu Kamila Bednáře, v transkripci původního nálezu a v prvním novočeském překladu, který pořídil Václav Hanka. Komentář Dalibora Dobiáše zrekapituluje spory o RKZ a představí je jako svérázná umělecká díla.
