Branko Lenart Livres

This selection from Branko Lenart’s wide-ranging oeuvre presents a collection of art work produced from 1975 to 2012. But even if much of this work is known from other compilations and different contexts, many items suddenly bear new titles, thus introducing current, topical dimensions of content. The »Hand: Works« are largely conceptual, but they project an additional meta-level of meaning through the portrayal of people, topographies, texts, as well as the memories of their original contexts, combining them to form a new whole. A striking feature of these pictures is the method of holding something in view of the camera or of bringing something into the photograph which extends into the periphery, the off, as it were. This allows the photographer to stand behind the camera and, at the same time, become a visible part of the motif.

Das Buch „Wahr genommen“ ist die erste große Publikation, die das bisherige Lebenswerk Lenarts - mehr als 25 Jahre der Beschäftigung mit dem Medium Fotografie - von seinen ersten Arbeiten 1965 bis zur Gegenwart zeigt. Das Buch, das überwiegend Schwarzweißarbeite (gedruckt in Duoton) und einige Farbbilder enthält, gibt nicht nur einen Einblick in Lenarts fotografisches Werk, sondern stellt gleichzeitig einen Bildband zu den Entwicklungen seit den Sechzigerjahren dar.
