The author focuses on the diffusion of Egyptian-type objects across the Mediterranean, presenting unpublished amulets and scarabs from Al Mina, located at the mouth of the Orontes River in Turkey. The volume includes summaries of Aegyptiaca from Archaic Italy, Phoenician-Punic Sardinia, and the Maltese islands. Extensive commentary, along with comparative material from Egypt and the Mediterranean, enhances the understanding of these artifacts, which stem from excavations by Sir Leonard Woolley in 1936-1937. The artifacts were primarily sent to Antakya, with some housed in the Ashmolean Museum and the British Museum. The catalogue also revisits scarabs from Tarsus, excavated by Hetty Goldman, and includes finds from museums in Adana and Gaziantep. This research aims to illuminate the cultural and commercial connections facilitated by these Egyptian objects. Additionally, the author seeks to highlight the cultural significance of these artifacts within the broader context of the Gulf of Iskenderun during the Neo-Hittite and Neo-Assyrian periods, utilizing findings from the Tells of the Amuq-Plain, uncovered by American missions in the 1930s, which have not yet been published but are analyzed in this work.
