Jerry Moffatt wurde 1963 geboren. In den 1980er und 1990er Jahren war der Brite einer der besten, wenn nicht DER beste Sportkletterer weltweit. Nach extremen Trad-Erstbegehungen wandte er sich dem Sportklettern und Bouldern zu, und auch das aufkeimende Wettkampfklettern dominierte er eine Weile. Moffatt lebte mit Kurt Albert und Wolfgang Güllich, boulderte mit Ron Kauk und John Bachar, trainierte mit Ben Moon, kletterte mit Jean-Baptiste Tribout und den Menestrel-Brüdern. Er wiederholte weltweit die schwersten Routen und fügte eigene hinzu. 2010 erschien seine Autobiographie „Revelations“, die er mit Niall Grimes verfasst hat. Darin präsentiert Moffatt das Leben eines durch und durch Kletter-besessenen. Einer, der seit der Schule weiß, dass er der beste Kletterer der Welt werden will, und alles dafür tut, dass es so kommt. Beim Banff-Bergbuch-Festival wurde der Titel mit dem „Großen Preis“ ausgezeichnet, nun liegt mit „Rockgod“ endlich die deutsche Übersetzung vor - Pflichtlektüre!
