Il y a environ 500 ans, le 18 avril 1506, le pape Jules II posa sous le pilier de Ste-Véronique la première pierre de construction de la basilique. En 2006, on fêta le 500e anniversaire de cet acte. Ce jour-là germa l’idée de ce livret afin de vous guider lors de votre visite de la basilique apostolique et de ses alentours. Il est également conçu pour vous aider à préparer votre visite ou bien pour nourrir vos souvenirs. La basilique St.-Pierre de Rome est l’église la plus importante de la Chrétienté, même si une épigraphe à l’entrée de la basilique Saint-Jean-de-Latran souligne que ce rang revient de fait à cette dernière (« Sacrosancta lateranensis ecclesia omnium urbis et orbis ecclesiarum mater et caput – Très Sainte Eglise de Latran, mère et chef de toutes les églises de la ville et du monde ») et que les bustes reliquaires avec les vénérés crânes de saint Pierre et de saint Paul sont exposés dans le baldaquin au dessus de l’autel des Papes à Latran. L’empereur Constantin fit construire la basilique de Latran en premier (en 311). Rome était alors considérée comme la « Caput mundi – Capitale du monde ». Ce titre, se référant à l’expansion continue de l’Eglise chrétienne, fut alors imparti à la basilique de Latran et ce jusqu’à nos jours. Depuis le retour des papes d’Avignon (en 1377) la direction de l’Eglise ne siège cependant plus à Latran mais au Vatican. Ceci modifia le positionnement des deux églises au sein de l’Eglise catholique. La suprématie de la basilique de Latran sur celle de St.- Pierre est néanmoins évidente au regard de la hauteur des obélisques qui se dressent chacun à côté des deux églises: celui de Latran est plus grand que celui de la place St.-Pierre. En d’autres termes : la basilique de Latran est la cathédrale du pape, évêque de Rome, St. Pierre est la cathédrale du pape, évêque de l’Eglise.

Robert A. Fischer, auch bekannt als Bob, war ein vielseitiger Kreativer – Schreibtisch-Rockstar, Kunstkritiker, Autor und Medienkünstler. Er hinterließ rund 20.000 digitale Textdateien über Musik, neue Technologien und den Zeitgeist. In diesem Buch sind 239 ausgewählte Texte versammelt. Mit einer täglichen Schreibroutine von 3.000 bis 4.000 Anschlägen verfasste Fischer seine Gedanken in der Tradition der écriture automatique, ohne sie zu überarbeiten. Er schrieb unter verschiedenen Pseudonymen und in unterschiedlichen Formaten, oft nüchtern, manchmal betrunken, und nutzte verschiedene Computer, selten mit Korrekturprogrammen. Lediglich die veröffentlichten Texte erhielten ein Lektorat, wobei er oft die ursprünglichen Versionen bevorzugte, die seinen stream of consciousness widerspiegelten. Der Computer diente ihm als neurologische Prothese, die den komplizierten Schreibprozess erleichterte. Im Laufe der Jahre entwickelte sich sein Hämmern am Schreibtisch zu einer Form von littérature brute, die Tippfehler und unkonventionelle Rechtschreibung beinhaltete. Fischer bezeichnete seine Arbeit als spekulative Forschungsliteratur. Rückblickend bemerkte er, dass er zwar Mühe mit dem Schreiben hatte, aber dennoch stets aktiv war. (Gina Bucher)
