A collection of traditional and modern tales by such authors as Virginia Haviland, Margaret Mahy, and Edward Blishen.

Compiled from separate anthologies published for children aged five, six and seven, this is an illustrated collection of about 40 stories drawn from traditional and contemporary sources. Edward Blishen won the Carnegie Medal for the Best Children's Book of 1970 with "The God Beneath the Sea".

Including stories from Margaret Mahy, Alison Uttley, Rudyard Kipling and many others, this anthology of stories from all over the world provides insight into many different cultures and ways of living.
