The Khnum temple on the Elphantine, at the southern edge of the kingdom, was built by the last native Egyptian Pharaoh, Nectanebo II (359-341 BC), and provides an important link between earlier temples and the new influences of Ptolomaic-Roman architecture. This substantial excavation report details the temple's architectural elements and construction and its abandonment and subsequent use as a sandstone quarry. The description is accompanied by temple plans, elevations, reconstruction diagrams and numerous photographs.
