The book offers an extensive visual documentation of the British battleship Duke of York, highlighting its historical significance and wartime achievements, including sinking the German battleship Scharnhorst. Featuring a complete set of full-color plans and detailed photographs from construction to decommissioning, it captures the ship's modifications and interior structure. Accompanied by insightful narratives and captions, this work provides a thorough exploration of the battleship, making it an essential resource for warship enthusiasts.
Discover the exciting new world of craft distillers and whiskies from around
the world in Ian Buxton's brilliant new addition to his 101 Whiskies series.
The fifth edition of the top-selling UK whisky guide, fully revised and
updated. Witty, focused, practical pointers to some of the world's finest
whiskies.
This new book from bestselling drinks writer Ian Buxton builds on the
tremendous success of 101 Gins to Try Before you Die. It includes background
details on distilleries and craft artisans, tasting notes and tips on the
must-try latest gins as well as the eternal classics and longstanding
favourites.
This book offers an updated overview of the whisky industry, reflecting changes since its first edition in 2014. It presents the latest academic research and industry best practices in an accessible and authoritative manner.
Third edition, fully revised and updated. 101 Whiskies to Try Before You Die is a whisky guide with a difference. It is not an awards list. It is not a list of the 101 'best' whiskies in the world in the opinion of a self-appointed whisky guru. It is simply a guide to the 101 whiskies that enthusiasts must seek out and try in order to complete their whisky education. Avoiding the deliberately obscure, the ridiculously limited and the absurdly expensive, whisky expert Ian Buxton recommends an eclectic selection of old favourites, stellar newcomers and mystifyingly unknown drams that simply have to be drunk. The book decodes the marketing hype and gets straight to the point; whether from India, America, Sweden, Ireland, Japan or the hills, glens and islands of Scotland, here are the 101 whiskies that you really want. Try them before you die - Slainte!
New Writing on Beer and Whisky in Honour of Michael Jackson

Leading international writers on beer and whisky have joined together in a unique project to celebrate the enduring legacy of celebrated drinks writer Michael Jackson (65), who died in August 2007 having suffered from Parkinson s disease for over a decade. They have each donated a piece of new writing to Beer Hunter, Whisky Chaser, launched on March 27, 2009 to mark Jackson s birth date. All proceeds from the publication, which was supported by leading single malt whisky The Glenlivet, will be donated to the Parkinson s Disease Society of the UK. Editor Ian Buxton, who conceived the project, said Michael Jackson dominated the world of both beer and whisky writing for two decades and was hugely influential in both real ale and single malt whisky. A complete generation of writers has cause to be grateful to him, not to mention countless brewers and distillers. This new book honours that legacy. He concludes: If variety is what you celebrate in your choice of whisky or beer, then this is truly a joyous and eclectic celebration of a life well-lived. We have sought to honour Michael with words, fresh and new writing on beer and whisky that he would have enjoyed reading; that he would have respected; that he might even have wished to have written himself. The collaborators represent a roll of honor from drinks writing: (in alphabetical order) Stephen Beaumont, Dave Broom, Ian Buxton, John Hansell, Julie Johnson, Charles MacLean, Hans Offringa, F Paul Pacult, Roger Protz, Lucy Saunders, Conrad Seidl, Carolyn Smagalski and Gavin D Smith.
