This catalog accompanies the exhibition in Florence from October 15 to January 6, 2013, showcasing a selection of around 150 portraits from the Fund Annigoni, the Guelpa Foundation, and other collections. It presents the artist through self-portraits and various subjects, including professional artists, everyday figures, landscapes, saints, relatives, and notable personalities. Pietro Annigoni gained international recognition after painting Queen Elizabeth II in 1954, leading to commissions from many prominent figures. Since 1949, he spent significant time in the UK, creating acclaimed portraits of the Queen Mother, the Duke of Edinburgh, and Princess Margaret. The catalog features previously unseen curiosities, such as sketches for the portrait of Pope John XXIII, commissioned by "Times" in 1962, and a sketch for President Lyndon Johnson's portrait, which graced the magazine's cover in April 1968. Contributions from various authors, including Sabrina Baldanza, Emanuele Barletti, and others, enrich the text, providing insights into Annigoni's life and work.
