Ulf is 9 jaar en verlegen, dik en onhandig. Zijn vriend Percy haalt allerlei kattenkwaad uit en kan vechten als de beste. Volgens Percy komt dat door zijn gympen. Ulf besluit dat hij kost wat kost deze gympen in zijn bezit moet krijgen. Hij haalt Percy over om zijn gympen te ruilen voor vrijwel alles wat hij bezit. Met deze gympen kan Ulf plots de hele wereld aan: zelfs zijn grote broer.
