Tkanka pajęcza rzeczywistości złapie go, nie dając mu szansy na ucieczkę. To bardzo wyjątkowa powieść kryminalna, w której z powodzeniem zburzono wiele stereotypów gatunku. Część najlepszej narracji latynoamerykańskiej ostatnich dekad czerpała „z pożytkiem” od sycylijskiego autora, który w pewien sposób potrafił połączyć Borges'a (jedną ze swoich podstawowych inspiracji) z wielkimi moralistami francuskimi: Leonardem Sciascią.
