Vor einiger Zeit ist Onkel Ott auf dem Weg zur Katzenklippe spurlos verschwunden. 'Bestimmt hat ihn das Megrium gefressen!' behauptet Egans Cousine Ada. Auch wenn sich Egan vor dem unheimlichen Klagen und Stöhnen der Katzenklippe fürchtet als Ada ihn einen Feigling schimpft, läßt er das nicht auf sich sitzen. Egan steigt zur Katzenklippe hinauf und will sich dem Kampf mit dem Megrium stellen. Dann macht er eine erstaunliche Entdeckung.
