Jan Gnatowski, writing under the pseudonym Jan Łada, was a Polish writer and journalist who spent much of his life in Ukraine. His novels and short stories focus on the themes of decline and decay - inspired by the savagery of World War I. This volume contains his short story "Na smierc" - "On Death" in the original Polish alongside a new English translation.
