Neste sentido faz-se necessário um cuidado e controle com aqueles que aplicam o produto, a fim de evitar intoxicações e prejuízos à saúde. A pesquisa realizada com os 23 agricultores do município de Paraíso – SC, trouxe importantes informações e dados sobre o assunto. Onde se observou o alto número de pessoas que não fazem uso adequado dos equipamentos de segurança resultado no contato direto com os agrotóxicos, nos quais alguns declararam já terem se intoxicado durante o uso dos produtos. Confirmando isso estão os resultados dos testes de colinesterase em amostras de saliva, que se apresentam alterados indicando sinais de intoxicação por agrotóxico. A utilização da saliva como amostra biológica também se apresentou confiável para este tipo de testes. Um dos pontos positivos de testes como esses é a sua praticidade na realização da coleta do material por ser um método não invasivo, facilitando assim, estudos e acompanhamentos da saúde dos agricultores da região oeste de SC e demais regiões.
