Mitchell Morse werkt als beveiligingsbeambte bij een groot warenhuis en raakt via een van de cassières betrokken bij een zeer ingenieus beraamde overval op een geldwagen. Hij heeft de moeilijke keus tussen meedoen en rijk worden of zijn geweten volgen en een plan bedenken waarbij hij zowel zijn eigen hachje, dat van de cassière als het geld moet zien te redden. Na een redelijk goed ontvangen debuut, nu het tweede boek van een schrijver die een vergelijking met Elmore Leonard kan doorstaan. Net als bij Leonard is het verhaal bikkelhard en spelen een paar zeer ongure types een belangrijke rol. Aan de hand van enkele gedetailleerde beschrijvingen van bijzonder nare gruwelijkheden en messcherpe dialogen, begrijpt de lezer al gauw om wat voor 'creeps' het hier gaat. Minder subtiel dan Leonard, maar toch zeer overtuigend weet Kakonis een spannend verhaal met een ijzersterke plot neer te zetten. Voor een brede lezerskring.
