Eliot Hodgkin (1905-1987) is best known as a painter of still life subjects beautifully executed in tempera. Less well known are his haunting views of bomb-sites in London after World War II. Peter Lanyon (1918-1964), one of Britain's most important and original Post- War artists, sought to create a new vision of landscape painting for the modern era.
