En este libro se pretende realizar una revision del estado de la cuestion sobre las redes sociales virtuales (RSV) y su relacion con las acciones de marketing. En primer lugar se plantea como ha surgido y se ha desarrollado la Web 2.0 en la que nos encontramos inmersos, asi como los principios, filosofia y pilares sobre los que se sustenta. Ademas, se profundiza en el papel de los medios de comunicacion social (Social Media) en el ambito del Marketing. Dentro de este marco, en primer lugar se considera el inicio de las redes sociales en el entorno offline, para desarrollar a continuacion un analisis exhaustivo de las RSV, incluyendo su definicion, el vinculo entre las redes fisicas y las RSV, los origenes y evolucion de las RSV, asi como el funcionamiento, caracteristicas y clasificacion de las mismas.
