Obsahují všecky tři deníky, které si psal od 10. ledna 1939 až do své smrti - v předvečer svých 22 narozenin, kdy jej náhodou zachytila na ulici německá sanitka a vlekla jej několik desítek metrů po dlažbě. Za dva dny na to, 1. září 1941, Jiří Orten zemřel. Jeho deníky vyšly - jako většina jeho díla - po druhé světové válce.
