Focusing on the California Gold Rush, this book presents a unique collection of portraits that challenge traditional daguerreotype conventions, showcasing young argonauts with striking attitudes and attire. Accompanied by landscape photographs printed on metal, it emphasizes the human interaction with the American landscape. The photographers creatively enhanced their images by adding gold dust and nuggets, linking the themes of gold and silver—both vital to photography. This work is a collaboration between the Canadian Photography Institute and RVB BOOKS.
