Focusing on the philosophical insights of Simone de Beauvoir, this analysis critically examines how her ideas have been appropriated by "gender-critical" movements to support trans exclusion. It argues for a re-interpretation of Beauvoir's concept of becoming a woman as a means to affirm trans identities.
