Salvador Allende

    Salvador Allende fut un médecin et homme politique chilien, reconnu comme le premier marxiste à diriger un pays d'Amérique latine par le biais d'élections ouvertes. Sa carrière politique s'est étendue sur près de quatre décennies, durant lesquelles il a occupé les postes de sénateur, député et ministre. En tant que président, il a mené une politique de nationalisation et de collectivisation, entraînant des tensions notables avec les branches législative et judiciaire. Sa présidence s'est achevée par un coup d'État militaire, au cours duquel Allende refusa de démissionner, se suicidant.
