Lara lives a social whirl in London - shopping, dressing, glamorous parties and more shopping - all paid for by her loving father. When Daddy's funds suddenly dry up, including the generous allowance, Lara is left high and dry with rent to pay and only one bottle of champagne in the fridge... Then a phone call changes everything. Her grandmother wants to send Cousin Beatrix to stay so that Lara can teach her how to be sophisticated and flirtatious: quiet, rural, country-dance-loving, heavy-eyebrowed Beatrix. It's going to be quite a challenge, but Grandmother is willing to pay... Meanwhile, Jack is widowed farmer in Dorset with two young sons, a talent for art and a desire for someone to share it all with. Jack's friends decide to take the problem of his single status into hand, and soon Lara, Beatrix and Jack find their lives colliding in the most unexpected way...
