I když se Andrzej Sapkowski proslavil svým geraltovským cyklem, rozhodně se neomezuje pouze na tohoto hrdinu. Tato kniha jej představuje jako autora studie o nejznámější a nejslavnější středověké legendě o králi Artušovi a rytířích Kulatého stolu, v níž se mu úspěšně daří bořit mnohé zažité stereotypy. Na tuto studii mnohé navazuje Sapkowského osobité zpracování části artušovského mýtu v povídce Maladie. Příznivci hororů se mohou začíst do jeho romantických textů Tandaradei!, Muzikanti či Příhoda v Mischief Creeku. Výsledkem autorovy fascinace Carrolovou Alenkou v krajině divů (a kočkami) je povídka Zlaté odpoledne. A na závěr to asi nejlepší, povídka V kráteru po bombě, reflexe možného vývoje naší části Evropy po roce 1989.
