Roland Taugner wurde 1922 geboren und ist seit 1946 als Medizinstudent, Privatdozent für Pharmakologie und später Professor für Physiologie Mitglied der Universität Heidelberg. Als Mediziner im Ruhestand betätigt er sich bevorzugt mit Gärtnerei und Weinbau, seit 2000 auch als Schriftsteller. Sein Kriminalroman „Zwei, drei oder vier“ entstand mit Unterstützung seines Enkels Julian Taugner. Das Autorenduo Taugner & Taugner ist deutschlandweit, wenn nicht gar weltweit, das mit dem größten Altersunterschied.
