Feridun Oral, né en 1961, est diplômé de la Faculté des Beaux-Arts de l'Université de Marmara en 1985. Ses peintures et illustrations sont exposées dans de nombreuses expositions et biennales en Turquie et à l'étranger depuis 1986. L'œuvre d'Oral, souvent marquée par une perspective ironique, s'exprime aussi bien dans ses peintures que dans ses créations céramiques. Il a écrit et illustré des livres pour enfants qui ont obtenu une reconnaissance et des prix internationaux, et poursuit son travail créatif depuis son atelier à Istanbul.
