Focusing on the unique properties of ionic liquids (ILs), Till Cremer's thesis explores their bulk characteristics and interfaces with vacuum and solids using angle-resolved X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The research emphasizes thin IL coatings and innovative catalytic concepts like supported ionic liquid phase (SILP) and solid catalyst with ionic liquid layer (SCILL) systems. Cremer's findings on anion/cation interactions and ultrathin layer growth have advanced the field of Ionic Liquid Surface and Interface Science, resulting in ten publications in prestigious journals.

Berlin artists' is a project by Till Cremer produced over a five-year period, during which time he photographed 500 contemporary artists in Berlin. The portraits show the artists in their working environment or a place consistent with their work and visually explore the individual artistic personality.
