On the occasion of the bicentennial of the TU Wien the present volume gives a unique overview of the diverse fields of activity constituting the Faculty of Planning and Architecture. The contributions documented in this volume show the extraordinarily broad spectrum of a Faculty concerned with the development of our environment, transcending disciplinary boundaries and using different points of view. This development is pursued from an artistic-architectural as well as from a strategic and planning perspective. The positions presented here range from the assertion of disciplinary autonomy and distinct scientific research to interdisciplinary approaches related to everyday life and user needs.
