V centre Wrightovho záujmu je problematika humanizmu, jeho miesta vo svete zmietanom krízami najrozmanitejšieho charakteru. Sám autor (1916 – 2003) charakterizoval svoje práce ako úsilie o „diagnózu nášho času“.
