En savoir plus sur le livre
The names Hans Hoheisen and John Hanks feature prominently among South Africans who have made outstanding contributions to the conservation of the African continent's magnificent natural heritage. The late HANS HOHEISEN first inherited, and then grew and carefully nurtured a huge game-rich paradise in the Lowveld, before donating it all to the nation as an addition to the Kruger National Park - at the time, the biggest single donation of its kind. He also left an extraordinarily generous bequest which funds numerous conservation projects across the subcontinent. JOHN HANKS, smitten by the lure of Africa while still a teenager in England, gained a PhD in African elephant biology from Cambridge University and garnered a reputation as a leading scientist while working in Zambia, then Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe), and at the then Natal Parks Board and then University of Natal (Pietermaritzburg), before heading WWF-South Africa and Peace Parks Foundation. He has held - and continues to hold - numerous other leading positions in the conservation arena. The Hans Hoheisen Charitable Trust is proud to pay tribute to these two deeply passionate conservationists.
