In a heroic fantasy saga set in the lands of Ro, a world reminiscent of medieval Europe, magic is rare and primarily held by priesthoods. The city of Ro Canarn faces an assault by the Knights of the Red, led by a Karesian Enchantress from the Seven Sisters, who seeks to manipulate the city's men for her own purposes. As the Duke of Canarn is executed by the King's decree, the city descends into turmoil, with its people suffering under the mercenary army's rule. Separated and pursued by the warrior clerics of the One God, Bromvy seeks the aid of the enigmatic Dokkalfar from the Darkwald forest to reclaim their home. Meanwhile, Lady Bronwyn heads toward the Grass Sea, pursued by the King's forces. In the mountainous Fjorlan region, High Thain Algenon Teardrop launches his Dragon Fleet against the Red Army. This marks the beginning of an epic conflict where brother battles brother in the first volume of a long war.
