Postsparkasse: The Postal Savings Bank was built between 1904 and 1906. Otto Wagner designed both the interior and the exterior, and also some of the equipment (A5). Staatsoper (B3): The State Opera House was built between 1861 and 1869 by August von Siccardsburg and Eduard van der Nüll; the interior was reconstructed by Moritz von Schwind. Universität (A1): The present University building was built in the neo-Renaissance style between 1873 and 1883 by Heinrich Ferstel. Secession: Built according to the design of Joseph Olbrich between 1897 and 1898. This was used as an Exhibition hall for the Jugendstil movement in 1900. Sculptured by Gustav Klimt, the famous frieze portraying Beethoven is still much admired. (B2) Vermählungsbrunnen (A3): The Anker Clock in Hohen Markt Square is made of gilded copper and bronze. The so-called Wedding Fountain or Josephs Column on Hoher Markt Square was built by order of Leopold I as an expression of gratitude for the safe return of his son Joseph I from the war. An important personality from the history of Vienna is shown in the circular opening every hour and at 12 o'clock, all twelve figures can be seen there. (A4) Ehemaliges bürgerliches Zeughaus (A3): The former Civic Armoury was built in the first half of the 16th century. Anton Ospel reconstructed the house and Lorenzo Mattielli decorated it with sculptures between 1731 and 1732. Hundertwasser-Haus: The Fairy-Tale Houses are two separate buildings: a dwelling house in Löwen-Kegelgasse, another in Weissgerberstrasse. Friedensreich Hundertwasser, an architect and artist, built the dwelling house between 1983 and 1985. Both the houses contradict all generally accepted architectural norms and rules.
