Composition Through Pictures. The thirty-two picture compositions in this book provide for both oral and written composition, and are carefully selected so that the vocabulary required for each composition is controlled. Each composition also concentrates on one or more sentence patterns which are practiced by means of substitution tables before the pupil begins the composition. The first part contains pictures for description, pictures for comparison, pictures which tell short stories, and maps and pictures for simple instructions. The second part contains pictures which tell slightly longer stories and is followed by an appendix giving lists of sentence patterns and helpful phrases which are intended mainly for the teacher.
