En savoir plus sur le livre

The collective monograph Identity, Tradition and Revitalization of American Indian Culture is dedicated to the current issue of revitalization of traditional culture and art of American Indians. Particular attention is focused on the concept of native identity and the question of how Native Americans are free to develop traditional culture in a modern and increasingly globalized society. Among the main themes of the book are an analysis of the impact of modern and postmodern civilization on Native American cultures and an examination of the processes and mechanisms by which American Indian cultural heritage and ethnic identity are currently being preserved or lost. The individual studies, characterized by thematic diversity and a plurality of research perspectives, seek to contribute to a broader discussion on the current topic of tradition, modernity, ethnicity, and cultural identity in the perspective of the anthropology of modern worlds.
