Towards a European criminal law against organised crime

En savoir plus sur le livre

"This volume submits to the current international discussion on organised crime model legislative proposals in certain core areas of organised criminal activities. These proposals are the main results of the third colloquium organised in Madrid (June 2000) in the framework of the Joint European Project to Counter Organised Crime. The Project (1998-2000) is a comparative investigation conducted by the City of Palermo and the Max Planck Institute for Foreign and International Criminal Law at Freiburg (Germany) in collaboration with judicial, academic, and administrative institutions from Italy, Germany, and Spain. The collection and comparison of data relating to these three countries were the object of the research carried out during the first phase of the Project; in 2000 the material was published in German and Italian (see vol. 3.1 and 3.2 of this series). On this basis, the second phase was dedicated to the formulation of normative proposals on the European level to counter organised crime more efficiently, without losing sight of the protection of the individual's rights against investigative measures. The four core areas covered are: participation in a criminal organisation, confiscation of illicit profits, government witnesses and undercover agents, and interception of communication." -- Verlag.
