Revolution from the Right offers new insights into the rise of National Socialism by examining the politically significant state of Saxony during the Weimar Republic. Traditionally a stronghold of Social Democracy, Saxony experienced a dramatic political shift to the far right, culminating in the National Socialists' first major electoral successes in the 1929 and 1930 elections. The NSDAP attracted support from middle-class voters drawn to militant anti-Marxism and workers who had previously aligned with the revolutionary left. Lapp explores the dynamics of political radicalization in this densely populated and polarized state, covering the period from the German Revolution of 1918-19 to the Nazi rise to power. Key themes include the bourgeois "moral outrage" against early Weimar Socialist reforms, the failure of bourgeois parties to retain support among a radicalized middle class, and the NSDAP's success in appealing to significant segments of the working class. Unlike previous studies focusing on rural and middle-class support, this work highlights the appeal of National Socialism in an industrialized, working-class context, shedding light on its diverse constituency and the broader implications for the collapse of the Weimar Republic.
